Plain-language terms for using PrivateWorth. By using the app or purchasing a Pro license, you agree to these terms. We have written them to be readable, not to hide anything.

We provide a wealth tracking tool. We are not a financial advisor, accountant, or bank. Nothing in the app is financial advice.
You are responsible for keeping your passphrase safe. We cannot recover your vault if you lose it — this is by design.
If the software does not work as described, request a refund within 14 days of purchase. See Section 5 for full details.
By accessing privateworth.com or using the PrivateWorth application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
These terms apply to all users, whether on the Free tier or Pro. Additional terms specific to Pro are noted where they apply.
PrivateWorth is a personal finance tracking tool. It lets you manually record your assets and debts, track your net worth over time, and store that information in an encrypted file on your device.
Not financial advice. Nothing in PrivateWorth — not the health score, not the allocation breakdown, not any insight, recommendation, or number displayed — constitutes financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, accounting advice, or any other professional financial guidance. The app is a tool for organising your own information. Consult a qualified financial professional for decisions about your money.

The Free tier of PrivateWorth is provided at no cost and includes the dashboard, manual asset and debt tracking, the health score, snapshot history, and the vault checklist.
We reserve the right to modify which features are included in the Free tier at any time. We will not retroactively remove access to features a Free user is actively relying on without reasonable notice.
A PrivateWorth Pro license is a one-time purchase that grants you a permanent, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use all Pro features in PrivateWorth.
At the time of purchase, Pro includes: encrypted vault files, PDF report generation, CSV export, emergency wealth summary, and advanced history. The exact feature set is listed on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
Your license does not expire. You will not be asked to pay again to continue using the features you purchased. If we add new Pro features in the future, they will be included at no additional cost.
Your license is for your personal use. You may import your license on multiple devices that you own and use. You may not sell, give away, or otherwise transfer your license to another person.
After purchase, a signed license file is emailed to the address you provided at checkout. This file is your proof of purchase and is how the app verifies Pro access. Keep it safe. If you lose it, contact us at support@privateworth.com and we will resend it.
No account required. Your license works offline. After importing the license file, the app verifies it locally using cryptographic signatures. You do not need an internet connection, an account, or our servers to remain a Pro user.
We stand behind the product. If PrivateWorth Pro does not work as described, we will make it right.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your vault passphrase. We strongly recommend:
There is no passphrase recovery. The encryption used in PrivateWorth is designed so that only you can open your vault. This means if you lose your passphrase, the contents of your vault are permanently inaccessible — to you, to us, and to anyone else. This is a feature, not a bug. Treat your passphrase like a physical key.
PrivateWorth is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PrivateWorth and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or financial loss — arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for a Pro license in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $29 USD, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liability, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.
The PrivateWorth application, its design, code, and content are owned by the operator and protected by applicable intellectual property law. Your Pro license grants you the right to use the software — it does not transfer any ownership of the software to you.
Your vault data — the financial information you enter — is yours. We make no claim to it. We cannot access it. It belongs entirely to you.
Because PrivateWorth is a local-first application, your core functionality — opening your vault, viewing your data, editing entries — does not depend on our servers being online. Your encrypted vault file works offline, permanently, regardless of whether privateworth.com is accessible.
We may change, improve, or discontinue features of the website or the online license verification at any time. We will provide reasonable advance notice of any significant changes that affect Pro users.
We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of PrivateWorth shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
